The uCIL Living Lab, created at the Institut du Cerveau – ICM in 2015, participates in the first edition of the Viva Technology Paris Challenge, which aims to bring together investors and leaders of innovative companies around many startups from all over the world.

The uCIL Living Lab, created in 2015 by the Institut du Cerveau – ICM and APHP, aims at imagining and proposing innovations (technologies, products, services) meeting the concrete needs of the healthcare system in neurology and psychiatry. In the Living Lab, patients and medical staff are closely involved in the effective development of innovations, from idea generation to introduction on the market. The uCIL Living Lab is located at the heart of the nervous system disease center of the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital.

The Living Lab participates this year in the first edition of the Viva Technology Paris Challenge, organized by both Publicis and Les Echos Groups. This challenge aims to link major accounts, such as Google, Orange, TF1, of which Institut du Cerveau – ICM is a member, with startups that will allow them to solve a technological or digital innovation issue.

The uCIL Living Lab provides two challenges in which startups are invited to participate.

The first challenge is related to autistic disorders : how to improve the well-being of people with autism ? The second challenge aims to find out how ICT could help patients suffering from psychiatric or neurological disorders to be agents of their own recovery.

Proposals from startups will be reviewed at the Institut du Cerveau – ICM by a selection committee. Selected projects will enable startups to be incubated at the Institut du Cerveau – ICM in the iPEPS. They will benefit from a privileged access to the best doctors and medical staff of the Pitié Salpêtrière hospital, to reflect on the product development. They will also have access to the Institut du Cerveau – ICM network of mentors and investors, to eventually place a developed product on the market.

The startups will present their projects to companies, from June, 30th to July, 2nd 2016 in Paris.
