Translational health research thus bridges exploratory and clinical research, stimulating the latter by therapeutic and methodological innovations as well as investigative tools derived from basic research. Reciprocally, clinical research disseminates new observations on the nature and progression of diseases towards basic research.

The IHU-A-Institut du Cerveau – ICM (Paris Institute of Translational Neurosciences) was created in 2012 and gave new impetus to translational research on the nervous system.

The mission of the IHU-A-Institut du Cerveau – ICM is to conduct projects of excellence in care, training and technology transfer in the field of nervous system diseases. Its priority is to favour the development of innovative products and procedures for prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
