Biographie

Dr. Raffaella Migliaccio obtained her medical degree and clinical specialty training in Neurology in Naples, Italy. To pursue her research on neurodegenerative patients, she spent a period of her doctorate training at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Memory and Aging Center. While at UCSF, she worked on several cognitive and neuroimaging studies, on Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). In particular, she started to study early and atypical variants of AD, such as posterior cortical atrophy (PCA) and logopenic progressive aphasia (LPA). After she left UCSF, she earned her PhD degree (2009) and moved to Paris to be a post-doc at INSERM unit, in the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital. From 2015, Dr. Migliaccio is a CR1 Inserm (Associate Professor) at Institut du cerveau et de la moelle épinière (ICM), in the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, Paris. She continues to study the early and atypical variants of AD, and in particular she focuses her research on the effect of pathological AD changes on functional neural networks, using MRI techniques. Moreover, she is going to extend this multi-modal research approach (clinical, cognitive, neuroimaging) to FTD.
